Dermapen 4™ Skin Needling is not suitable for all skin types. A complimentary consultation prior to treatment is required to determine suitability. Our experienced therapist will tailor a preparation plan for your skin type and skin condition to achieve optimum results from your Skin Needling treatment. It is important to follow any preparation instructions provided by our experienced therapists to ensure optimal results.

Preparation

2 weeks before treatment

No Laser Hair Removal, waxing, depilatory creams, and IPL treatments on the face
No Cosmetic Grade Peels
No Cosmetic Injectables
No sun exposure, always wear SPF 30+
Fitzpatrick skin types IV and above (medium to dark skin tones or prone to hyperpigmentation), we recommend you prepare your skin with a melanin inhibitor such as the Ultra A Perfecting Serum to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation after the treatment.

3 days before treatment

Avoid AHA exfoliating products and Retin-A
No blood-thinning medication
No fake tan present on the area (this may cause a tattooing effect)
No hair colour or chemical treatments to the hair

Aftercare

It is important to follow any aftercare instructions provided by our experienced therapists to ensure optimal results. Do not pull or pick any loose skin after the treatment.

48 hours post-treatment

Avoid excessive sun exposure, hot showers, saunas, and strenuous exercise. Within 3-4 hours, any redness and irritation should subside.
Avoid swimming, chlorinated pools, and spas

5-7 days post-treatment

Sunscreen is a must!
Avoid active ingredients and exfoliating products
No cosmetic injection treatments for 7 days

What will my skin look like after my treatment, will I require any downtime?

There is very little downtime post-treatment. Individual responses will vary. You may experience mild redness and warmth on the skin after treatment, which should subside within 3-4 hours; others may subside within 1-2 days post-treatment. Mineral makeup may be used 24 hours post-treatment. Our experienced therapist will tailor a post-treatment care plan for optimal results.

How many Micro-needling treatments will I need and when will I see results?

Results can be seen after 1 treatment. For optimal results we recommend a minimum of 4 micro-needling treatments, depending on the individual's skin condition and concerns. Scaring and stretch marks may require a minimum of 6 treatments, depending on the depth and age of the scar. Treatments are performed every 4-6 weeks.

Is Dermapen 4™ Micro-needling treatment safe?

Dermapen 4™ has the only expertly engineered Anti-Contamination Technology (ACM), optimising patient safety. Using medical grade stainless steel, gamma sterilised needle cartridges, with medical grade silicon seal and fluid guard, to prevent cross-contamination of the outer cartridge shell. All treatment consumables are single-use and sterile; treatments are performed by a qualified therapist. Dermapen 4™ Micro-needling treatment is not suitable for people who use certain acne medication or for women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to fall pregnant.
